Monacol K is a contribution of Monacolina K that is present in the Yeast of Red Rice and has been recognized since 2011 by EFSA, Agency for European Food Safety.
Monacolin K from red yeast rice helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 10 mg of monacolin K from fermented red yeast rice preparations.

- <p><strong>Monacolin K </strong>is obtained from the fermentation of Monascus purpureus, red rice yeast, to which an important lipid-lowering activity is attributed, thanks to the inhibition of the enzyme that produces cholesterol in the liver (inhibitor of HMG-CoA).</p> <p><strong>In addition to the well-documented lipid-lowering activity, red rice yeast appears to be effective in reducing cardiovascular risk through anti-atherosclerotic action (anti-inflammatory, vasodilatory and reductive effect of lipoprotein A levels).</strong></p> <p>The beneficial effect on the maintenance of normal levels of cholesterol in the blood is obtained with the daily intake of 10 mg of monacolin K of fermented red rice.</p>
